Stand Your Ground: Black Bodies and the Justice of God
Speaker: Dr. Kelly Brown Douglas, Dean of Episcopal Divinity School at Union Theological Seminary and Canon Theologian, National Episcopal Cathedral Dean Douglas will speak from her book, Stand Your Ground: Black Bodies and the Justice of God (Orbis, 2015). “Stand Your Ground law signals a social-cultural climate that makes the destruction and death of black bodies inevitable and even permissible. . . . This book is an attempt to untangle the web of social, cultural, and theological discourse that contributes to stand-your-ground culture as well as to provide a theological response.”
