Stand Your Ground: Black Bodies and the Justice of God
Speaker: The Rev. Dr. Kelly Brown Douglas, Dean of Episcopal Divinity School at Union Theological Seminary and Canon Theologian, National Episcopal Cathedral Dean Douglas will speak from her book, Stand Your Ground: Black Bodies and the Justice of God (Orbis, 2015). “Stand Your Ground law signals a social-cultural climate that makes the destruction and death of black bodies inevitable and even permissible. . . . This book is an attempt to untangle the web of social, cultural, and theological discourse that contributes to stand-your-ground culture as well as to provide a theological response.”
