Cancelled: Poverty Simulation

PLU's Center for Community Engagement and Service is hosting a Poverty Simulation workshop on April 7th. The Poverty Simulation workshop is a unique interactive experience that helps people begin to understand what life is like with a shortage of money and an abundance of stress. The Poverty Simulation workshop lets people walk in the shoes of someone living on a limited income.

Participants role play as either a family member that is living near the poverty line or a community resource provider that serves the families. If you have any questions, please contact service@plu.edu. CCES will follow up with you via email closer to the event date.

We also need volunteers to fulfill the Community Resource Provider positions, those serving the community (i.e. police officer, social worker, school teacher, etc.). We encourage those who have participated in a poverty simulation before or lived through a poverty to participate in the workshop in the Community Resource Provider roles.
